Entry #1

I like hotels.

I like traveling and that often (not always) means hotels.

This weekend was my family reunion. My Grandpa Winans' family is from West Virginia (please spare me any hillbilly, married cousin jokes because my family is nothing close to that stereotype). We started having reunions at least 7 years ago...we've had a few up here but most of them have been down in the Hills. The last two years, we've stayed in a hotel called the Wingate. It's not a 5 star fancy dancy place, but it's pretty good.

Some people don't like hotels, they think they're dirty (sleeping in a bed countless others have slept in, using towels washed by strangers, using bathrooms that have been used by many other people etc... and sure, it's a little iffy sometimes, but usually I'm not bothered.

This hotel had comfy beds. Queen sized in our room. Pillow topped. Much nicer than my "bed." And the pillows were good too. Only 4 though, which pales in comparison to the 9 I have on my bed.

At hotels you can blast the ac and not worry about how high the electricity bill is going to be, you can leave as many lights on as you want for the same reason.

You don't have to wash the towels, make the bed, you can be a bit messy...

And to top it all off you get continental breakfast. Juice. Coffee. Tea. Hot chocolate. Little cute boxes of cereal. Bagels. Toast. English Muffins. Biscuits. Kick ass waffles that you make yourself in one of those fancy flippy waffle maker things. Fruit. The best granola I've ever had.

I don't know why I love continental breakfast so much, but I do.

I think the best part is that you can take stuff back to your room such as a cute little box of Cinnamon Toast Crunch that you can stuff in your bag, bring home to Ohio, and give to your butthead 17 year old brother who refused to come to the family reunion because you know that's his favorite kind of cereal.

What I like...

I don't presume you actually care about what I like.

I'm just doing this for the heck of it. It gives me something to do. And it's free. I like free.

I realize Tumblr might be more appropriate but I feel like I usually have more to say than what I imagine Tumblr is designed for.

Typing 'What I like' makes me think of the song 'Whatever You Like' by T.I.

Here are some things I like:

Bubbles
Sidewalk chalk
Spring
Flowers
Dresses
Baking
Cooking
The beach
Taking walks
Rain coats
Hats
Hugs
Smiles
Picnics
Christmas lights
My friends and family
Music
Books
Learning new things
Wind chimes
Paint brushes
Antique hats
Going out to eat
Shopping
Getting dressed up
Umbrellas
Holding hands
Candles
Things that smell nice
Cats
My dog
Autumn
Riding bikes...

You will probably see posts about these things and more.
I'm off to do something else I like.... sleeping =)
